Kootenai County Fire & Rescue
Kootenai County Fire & Rescue is located in Northern Idaho. We serve the cities of Post Falls, Dalton Gardens, Huetter, State Line Village, Fernan Village, and many of the unincorporated areas of Kootenai County.
Kootenai County Fire & Rescue was formed in 2001, after a consoldiation between Post Falls Fire Department and Kootenai County Fire Protective District #1. We cover an area of over 113 square miles and over 45,000 residents.
We are a combination fire department, with over 44 full time emergency responders and 30 reserves. We operate out of 3 staffed stations. We operate under an agreement with Kootenai County Emergency Services System as a transport agency, providing 2 staffed ambulances and an independent paramedic. In addition, we have 3 reserve stations, a boathouse, a training & maintenance facility, and an administration building.
KCFR is in the process of building a state of the art training campus. The 10 acre campus already includes a training tower, an extensive confined space prop, a two tanker train HazMat prop, and a collapsed structure prop.
Our call volume has continued to increase, responding to over 4,700 calls for service in 2010.
The District is responsible for fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical ALS and BLS response and transport, haz-mat, technical rescue, emergency management, and public safety education.
KCFR is also the sponsoring agency for the Idaho State Region 1 Hazardous Materials Response Team, responding to incidents within Idaho’s five northern counties. The Districts Fire Prevention Bureau provides public education, subdivision review, alarm and sprinkler testing, building inspections, fire inspections, code compliance and arson investigation.
